Who we are

Thuyen Phiet graduated from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, France, where she studied under Jules Gentil and Alfred Cortot. She was the first-prize winner in Chamber Music Performance at the Conservatoire International de Musique in Paris, France.

Thuyen Phiet started as a Professor at the Conservatory of Saigon (Vietnam). She became assistant Professor at Bridgewater College (Virginia) from 1975 to 1981. She gave lectures on a regular basis at universities and various venues such as George Mason University in Virginia and California State Conventions.

Thuyen Phiet has more than sixty years of private studio teaching.  Her students have performed concerts at Town Hall, New York City, New York, one is a laureate of Beethoven Bicentennial Competition for Southeast Asia in Singapore.  All of these students started as beginners with Thuyen Phiet.

Thuyen Phiet has published a series a books offering a new approach for a solid foundation of piano playing.  With this new approach, students learn to play the piano in a manner analogous to the way they learn to type a word.  Applying the “See – Hear – Play Method for Piano“, students SEE the staff to read the note, SEE the keyboard to put fingers, HEAR the sound value of each note and PLAY the singing counting.
